Requirements

To join CanAdapt, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Professional Engagement: Prospective members must actively work in a field related to climate change adaptation. This broad criterion welcomes professionals from various sectors, including but not limited to environmental science, urban planning, forestry, infrastructure, and more, ensuring a rich diversity of knowledge and expertise within the network.

  2. Commitment to Climate Adaptation: Members are expected to have a demonstrated interest and commitment to climate change adaptation, whether through their professional work, research, or advocacy efforts. This ensures that all members are aligned with CanAdapt's mission to facilitate effective climate adaptation strategies across Canada.

  3. Annual Membership Fee: Membership is currently free. However, an annual donation of $400 would be appreciated. Your donation would be used to support the network's activities, resources, and events, helping to foster a collaborative and resource-rich environment for all members.

No specific academic degrees, professional certifications, or levels of experience beyond being actively engaged in a relevant field are required, making CanAdapt an inclusive platform for all professionals dedicated to making a difference in climate change adaptation.

EarthNet profiles act akin to personalized websites for each entity, providing a comprehensive landing page that serves as a jump-off point into that group, project, organization, or sub-network. These profiles offer an in-depth look at the entity's objectives, activities, and ways members can get involved.

For real-time interaction and more immediate collaborative endeavors, CanAdapt encourages the use of popular communication tools such as Slack, Discord, and WhatsApp. These platforms support direct messaging, group chats, and the formation of specialized channels for different sectors or projects, enabling members to easily connect, share ideas, and collaborate on adaptation initiatives. This dual approach, combining the informative and organizational capabilities of EarthNet with the agility and immediacy of widely-used communication apps, ensures that CanAdapt members can effectively network, access vital information, and work together towards implementing impactful climate adaptation strategies.
